How to apply for Aadhar Card Online in India ? (Complete Procedure 2016)

Aadhaar Card is a card issued by UIDAI : Unique Identification Authority of India (Govt. of India). The data collected when issuing an Aadhaar Card also includes Biometric Process such as taking Finger Prints and Retina Verification. Only one individual can have one unique Finger Prints and Retina. This helps the Government to have a track on the fakes. Aadhar Card is still not mandatory, but UIDAI is taking step to enroll people by putting Camps in every region of India. Your Aadhaar number can be linked to your Bank Account, Election Card, Pan Card etc.
UIDAI has recently started the trial Process to Book an Appointment to apply Aadhar Card Online. This process has been started in selected places as of now. However, with successful response of the same this process may be started for many other regions as well.

Lets get started with the Process of How to apply for Aadhar Card Online

Step 1 : Open the UIDAI Website for Booking Appointments at your Nearest Center https://appointments.uidai.gov.in
Note : If you cannot apply Aadhaar Card Online & your City does not have an appointment booking facility. You can either walk to any the Centers mentioned or Visit any of the UIDAI Center in your City without an Appointment.
Step 2 : Instructions to fill the “Appointment for Enrolment form”

• Mention your Name, Mobile Number, Email Address & Number of Persons applying for Aadhaar Card
• Select your State/UT, District/City, Locality/Area & Enrolment Centre
• Select the Date and Time for Appointment & Enter the Verification Code
• Re-check the mentioned Details and Click on “Fix Appointment”

Step 3 : Click on the link to Download Aadhaar Card Enrolment/Correction Form
Please take a printout of this Form after you finish downloading it.
Step 4 : Instructions to fill the Aadhar Card Enrolment/Correction form
This form may be used for New Aadhaar Card Enrolment. It can also be used for any type of correction in your already issued Aadhaar Card.

 

NOTE : Click on the link to update/change the details on your Aadhaar Card Online :  Update/Change your Aadhaar Card Data Online

• 1 & 2 : Are for UIDAI , So leave them Blank
• 3 : Enter your Full Name
• 4 : Enter your Gender
• 5 : Enter your Age in Years or Enter your Date of Birth. Put a tick mark on Declared. UIDAI representative will check your documents and tick on Verified. So, you can leave verified as blank.
• 6 : Enter your Complete Address & Pin Code. Enter your Email Address & Mobile number.
• 7 : Enter the Name of your Parent(Father/Mother) or Spouse (If Married). Also Enter their Aadhaar Number.
• 8 : Put a tick mark on YES if you want to share your Information with other Agencies. If not, tick mark on NO
• 9 : If your want UIDAI to open a new bank account for you and link it to your Aadhar. Then Tick mark on the first box. If you want to link your Aadhaar Number to an existing Bank Account. Then, Tick mark on the Second Box.
• 10 : Write the name of the Documents you are submitting for : (a) POI (Proof of Identity) (b) POA (Proof of Address) (c) DOB (Date of Birth) (d) POR (Proof of residence)

          Note : Please refer the list of documents accepted for POI, POA, DOB & POR mentioned at the bottom of the form.

• 11 : Mention the Aadhaar Number of the Introducer, if you have and Introducer for your Aadhaar card.
• 12 : Mention the Aadhaar Number of the head of your Family, if you do not have an Introducer. Also mention the date and time.
• Mention your Full Name where it says “I here confirm the identity and Address of ______________”
• In Consent, Put the Signature of Applicant at the bottom right of the Form. Put a thumb print of the Applicant(If the applicant is Illiterate)

Step 5 : Visit your UIDAI Enrolment Centre with all the Self Attested Documents.
Submit your completely filled form along with POI, POA, DOB & POR Documents. After verifying your documents the UIDAI representative will take your Biometric Details. These Biometric Details includes your Finger Prints and Retina Verification. This representative will also click a photograph of yours. So, you do not have to carry any photograph with you.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Aadhaar Card is free from Government of India. Please do not entertain any agent for the same. If any correction is to be made in Aadhaar Card within 96 hours of application, it will be free of Cost.

2. Linking Aadhaar Number to Bank Account by Visiting SBI ATM 

You can visit any SBI ATM to link your Aadhaar Number to your Bank Account. After you Enter your Pin after swiping your Card, you need to Click on Services. Then in Services, you need to click on Registrations. Now Select Aadhaar Registration to link your Aadhaar Number. Select the Type of Account you operate i.e., Savings/Current and proceed. At the end you will be asked to Enter your Aadhaar Number. Re-enter the Aadhaar Number and your will receive a transaction slip of the same.

3.  Linking Aadhaar Number to Bank Account by SMS 

You need to send an SMS to 567676. The SMS format has to be in the following manner –
UID(Space)Aadhaar Number(Space)Account Number
For users who already have their Mobile Number registered with SBI : You will receive a confirmation SMS from SBI stating that your Aadhaar Number has been linked with your SBI Account ( After Verification)
For users who already do not have their Mobile Number registered with SBI or if the Aadhaar Number is already linked to your the Bank Account: You will receive a reply from SBI stating that your Aadhaar will be linked after verification or your aadhaar number is already linked to your Bank Account.
Aadhaar Number will be linked to your Bank Account after SBI verifies the same with UIDAI. You will also be intimated about the status of your request.

4. Linking Aadhaar Number to Bank Account by Internet Banking 

You can also link your Aadhaar card to your Bank Account by Signing in to your Internet Banking Account(https://www.onlinesbi.com/). Once you sign in to your Internet Banking Account, you need to click on “Link your Aadhaar Number” (Check on the left Side)

Now you can Complete the Aadhaar Registration by filling the details :

• Select your Transaction Account & Your registered Mobile Number will appear automatically in the box provided for Mobile Number
• Enter your Aadhaar Number 
• Re-enter your Aadhaar Number
• Click on Submit

Step 3 : Now you Need to Check the Boxes Name or Address or Both (Whichever is Applicable) & Click on ‘Submit’

Step 4 : Now you will be asked to Enter your Updated Name and/or Address. After Entering these details you need to click on ‘Submit Update Request’.
Step 5 : You will be asked to review the details entered by you. You can go back and Modify if any changes are to be made or can Proceed if you feel you have entered the correct details.
Step 6 : To update your Name & Postal Address you will need to Upload a Scanned Copy of both Identity & Address Proof. Click on ‘Submit’ after the document is successfully uploaded.
Step 7 : In this step you will be asked to choose the BPO Service Provider for your Update Request.You can Choose any 1 & Click on ‘Submit’

Step 8 : Finally your update request will be completed. You will be provided with an Update Request Number (URN). You can use this number to track your request. You can also download the File stating your URN. Also, you will get an SMS with your URN.

• Your Name (Exactly as mentioned in Aadhaar Card)
• Your EPIC Number ( Can be found on your Voter ID Card)
• Your Aadhaar Number (Can be found on your Aadhaar Card)
• Your Mobile Number
• Email ID

Out of these, Your EPIC (Elector’s Photo Identity Card) Number & Your Aadhaar Number are mandatory fields.

As soon as you click on ‘Submit’ you will see a message : Your request for linking Aadhaar Number with Electoral Roll database has been successfully registered. 
This means that your Aadhaar Number is now linked to the Voter ID Card.
Step 4 : You can search your EPIC Number and Other details by Entering your Personal details like Name, Father’s/Husband’s Name, Age/Date of Birth, Gender, State, District-Constituency Or You can locate your Constituency on Map.
As soon as you enter your Details and Click on ‘Search’, you will find your EPIC details below. You can now use your EPIC Number for Aadhaar Seeding.
You can click on the link ‘Feed Aadhaar No.’ in Action at the bottom left of the page or ‘Feed your Aadhaar Number’ at the top right hand side of your Aadhaar Card.
You can follow the procedure mentioned in Step 3 to feed your Aadhaar Number in your Voter ID Card.

(2) Know how to Link Aadhaar Card to Voter ID Card ? (By SMS)

In order to link your Aadhaar Card to Voter ID Card by using SMS service, you need to follow the procedure mentioned below.

Send the SMS to 166 or 51969
For Example :– Your EPIC Number is XYZ123456 and your Aadhaar Number is ABC123456
